BESPOKE SWITCH CLOSING OR TRIPPING SUPPLY UNITS.

 

We custom design and manufacture a wide range of compact, self-contained units incorporating a battery, automatic constant potential charger (CPC) and all necessary controls and indication to give a high integrity DC. supply for switchgear closing or tripping purposes.

 

Self Contained

 

The units are housed in a welded sheet steel cubicle of robust construction to IP32 (or to specified requirements), painted in Grey to RAL7035 (or to specified requirements).  The cubicles can be for switchboard / wall mounting or floor standing and can have gland plates at the top and / or bottom.

 

Charger Specification

 

The charger is isolated from the mains supply by a double wound transformer.  It is a naturally cooled continuously rated constant voltage current limited thyristor or transistor controlled type with+ 1% output regulation for + 10% input variation and is open and short circuit proof.

 

Standing Loads

 

Standing loads are catered for both continuously and after mains failure by floating the battery across the charger / load giving a true no-break supply .

 

Battery

 

Any type of rechargeable battery can be supplied including: vented nickel cadmium, ultra-low maintenance nickel cadmium (10—15 year topping-up interval), vented lead acid (flat plate, tubular or Plante) and sealed (valve regulated) lead acid recombination cells.

 

Controls and Instrumentation

 

The units are supplied with; an input MCB and mains lamp, float / boost switch and lamp (where applicable), battery / output voltmeter and charge ammeter, charger fuse and distribution output fuse.

 

Alarms

 

A wide range of options are available, including: charge failed, mains failed, DC. low voltage, DC. high voltage, DC. earth leakage and common alarm.  All alarms have two separate volt-free changeover contacts for remote indication and / or local panel indication.  We can also supply BA300 battery alarm units.

 

Non-Standard Units

 

We are pleased to quote for any non-standard voltage, additional controls and distribution or indication such as: dummy load resistor and test switch, high output voltage cut-off, dual chargers, dual batteries, off-line boost charging, auto boost initiation, blocking diodes (for paralleling units) or dropping diode output voltage limiting.  We specialise in offering custom designed and built units to any specification.
