SWITCH CLOSING / TRIPPING SUPPLY UNITS. 30 / 50 / 110 VOLT.
A range of compact, self-contained units incorporating a battery, automatic charger, standing load power supply and all necessary controls and indication to give a high integrity DC. supply for switchgear closing and tripping purposes.
Self Contained
The units are housed in a welded sheet steel cubicle of robust construction to IP32, painted in Grey to RAL7035. There are three standard sizes: - 480H x 480W x 150D, 720H x 480W x 150D and 800H x 600W x 200D (mm). The cubicles are intended for switchboard or wall mounting but can be floor standing if required and have gland plates top and bottom.
Charger Specification
The charger is isolated from the mains supply by a double wound transformer. It is a constant current transistor controlled type with + 1% output regulation for + 10% input variation and is open and short circuit proof.
Standing Loads
Standing loads of up to 100VA are catered for both continuously and after mains failure, with up to 3Ah available capacity. The power supply is a constant voltage current limited transistor controlled type and feeds the output via blocking diodes for a true no-break supply on mains failure.
Battery
Sealed, maintenance-free, nickel cadmium cells are used with a temperature range of 20oC to +50oC. The charge rate is factory set at a minimum value to maximise the battery life expectancy and will fully recharge the battery from flat in 42 hours, although tripping duties are available in under an hour.
Controls and Instrumentation
The unit is supplied with; a voltmeter with dummy load resistor and test switch, an input MCB and mains lamp, a charger output fuse, double pole closing output fuses and, where applicable, a standing load power supply fuse and output fuse. The tripping output is unfused.
Alarms
A charge failed alarm is fitted as standard to all the units and the optional extras are: - DC. low voltage, DC. high voltage, mains failed, DC. earth leakage and common alarm. All alarms have separate volt-free changeover contacts for remote indication and can also operate local panel indication if required (extra battery capacity may be necessary for long autonomy periods).
Non-Standard Units
We are pleased to quote for any non-standard voltage, additional controls, distribution or indication. We specialise in offering custom designed and built units to any specification.
